Cole Slaw is the perfect side dish for a hot day of barbeque cooking. With some cool and interesting slaw recipes up your sleeve, you'll serve side dishes that are always outdoor crowd-pleasers.

Everyone has an idea what their favorite cole slaw should taste like. Some prefer a cole slaw with a good amount of vinegar in it, while others like a creamy version. Still others regular have bbq slaw with their barbeque. There are even cole slaw recipes that combine the different types.

Here a decent and interesting variety of cole slaw recipes that will help you make great cole slaw no matter which kind you prefer. With any cole slaw, make the night before if you can and keep in the fridge. Cole slaw always tastes better when you allow it to let all the flavors come together.


This is one of the most basic of recipes for cole slaw. But it turns out great every time and is delicious.

Basic & Easy Cole Slaw

INGREDIENTS:
* 1/2 head cabbage
* 1 large carrot
* 1 medium onion
* 1 1/2 cup mayonnaise
* 3 tablespoons sugar
* 3 tablespoons vinegar
* 1/2 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS:
Finely shred the cabbage, carrot and onion. combine well. Mix together the mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, and salt. Add to shredded cabbage mixture and chill.


Here's a favorite slaw recipe of North Carolina. North Carolinians should know slaw. They put it on everything.

North Carolina Slaw

INGREDIENTS:

* 1 pound finely shredded cabbage
* 1 medium diced onion
* 1 medium diced green bell pepper
* 1/2 cup vinegar
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1/2 cup salad oil
* salt
* pepper
* celery seed

DIRECTIONS:
Put cabbage, onion, and green pepper in a large bowl. In a saucepan, combine vinegar, sugar, and salad oil; heat to boiling.

Immediately pour over vegetables in the bowl to get desired wilting. Add salt and pepper and a generous sprinkling of celery seed to taste. Toss to coat vegetables. Refrigerate coleslaw for several hours or overnight for best flavor.


This is a very classy cole slaw recipe from the great state of Texas. Very interesting, but really, really good.

Texas Blue Cheese Cole Slaw

INGREDIENTS:
* 4 cups finely shredded Savoy cabbage
* 1/2 cup minced green onions
* 1/2 cup minced red or green bell pepper
* 2 tablespoons minced fresh dill
* 1 cup plain yogurt
* 2 tablespoons sour cream
* 3 tablespoons white wine vinegar
* 1 tablespoon honey
* 3 ounces blue cheese
* salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:
In a large bowl combine cabbage, onions, bell pepper, and dill. Blend together the yogurt, sour cream, vinegar, honey, and blue cheese. Toss cole slaw dressing with cabbage mixture. Add salt and pepper to taste.


Threw in this often searched-for KFC recipe.

KFC Cole Slaw Copy-Cat Recipe

INGREDIENTS: * 2 heads of Cabbage
* 1/2 Green Pepper
* 1/2 Small Onion
* 1 medium to Large Carrot
* 2 cups Miracle Whip Light
* 1/2 cup Sugar
* 1/4 cup Vinegar
* 1/4 cup Vegetable oil

DIRECTIONS:
Cut up Cabbage in a food processor, while cutting up Cabbage Cut small slices of Green Pepper and Onion, or Carrot and add to Processor.
Now mix Miracle whip, vinegar, and oil, Sugar. Mix smooth.

Taste should be sweet with just a hint of vinegar. Amount of slaw dressing may be increased or decreased according to the amount of slaw you are making. Add to cut up cabbage and mix well. Let stand 1-hour if possible to let flavors mix.
